<GreenTentacle> How many times does Lucas need to update New Hope before he makes the Death Star plans look like they're not on an Atari 2600?

<JaymachR> but...he doesn't really count
<LtNOWIS2> Count me amoing the former.
<jSarek> I fall into the first group.
<LtNOWIS2> You're a newspaper, for Chrissakes. Get shit right.
<The4dotelipsis> I don't. :P

Nothing is a given with George Lucas and television. This is the guy who said "Yes, let's make Star Wars cartoons for TV...but only ones that are three minutes long." Who said "I'm going to make a television show about my popular two-fisted action hero Indiana Jones...but it will begin when he's nine years old, and we'll see him learn all kinds of important life lessons from historical figures in a semi-educational setting. Oh, and we're going to travel all around the world to do it." What sane person would have decided on that? --TalonCard

<StarNeptune> They cut out all the scenes in ROTS that DIDN'T make her look like a whiney pregnant woman
<breathesgelatin> it's not like you're effing incapacitated for 9 months
<LtNOWIS2> Hey, don't forget she helped Yoda on Ilum. And, um, showed up for like 10 cumulative pages in the novel.
<breathesgelatin> not enough, you know, having the will to live
<JorrelFraajic> You mean snow bunny Padme?
<breathesgelatin> oh yeah, she helped Yoda on Illum... IN A PORNO JUMPSUIT
<breathesgelatin> and then she participated in George Lucas's LEATHER FETISH
<LtNOWIS2> Bah, there's nothing wrong with that jumpsuit.
<breathesgelatin> ewwwww
<LtNOWIS2> Jumpsuits are like that.
* StarNeptune cringes
<breathesgelatin> ok, then there's also nothing wrong with showing guy's junk through THEIR jumpsuits
<breathesgelatin> in EVERY comic
<StarNeptune> I'm all for that :P
<breathesgelatin> me too!
<breathesgelatin> yet another reason I like KOTOR--Jarael isn't totally sexed up/whored out
<LtNOWIS2> Er, have you seen her tits lately?

<Ozzel> "Lucas himself?"
<Ozzel> Ahem, [citation needed].
<LtNOWIS> "Lucas Arts tried to appease the legions of iritate fans by pronouncing the Jedi Exile to be a female in the official canon, as stated in New Essential Guide to Droids."
<The4dotelipsis> I'll put my money on Lucas not having even heard of Revan.

Not that I'm likening Lucas to Shakespeare, but you get my drift.

Shakespeare wouldn't mind. It's always good to remember that William wrote for the masses and ripped off liberally his own plots/history.

The only difference was he could do dialog.

George got 'better' at translating the story that the Whills gave him, written in Basic.

In 1977, he thought the Whills told him Han shot first.

In '97(?), he realized his translation error, and fixed it to the more accurate version that claims Greedo shot first.

Then, as the DVDs were getting ready, he finally grasped the 'correct' translation, which describes Han and Greedo shooting at exactly the same moment.

There's a sick, perverse part of me deep down inside that's waiting and hoping and praying for there to be metaphorical carnage as mere moments after George dies countless LFL higher-ups reach out to get whatever SW they can possibly get licensed and sold to the public to earn a few quick bucks before that very activity swallows up the whole franchise in mediocrity and absurdity. I can see it now, The Starhoppers Strike Back. The Return of Anakin Solo. Revan (of Indeterminate Gender and Allignment) Doing Whatever the Frak is Going to Sell to the Revan Addicts. The Death of Luke Skywalker. The Non-Death of Luke Skywalker. 1,000,001 Ways to Play the Battle of Hoth Over and Over Again. The Perfectly Sensible Retcon for Why There's 3 90-Degree Turns in the Trench Run in Rogue Squadron 1. Aayla Secura, Astraal and Mission Vao, Darth Talon, and Many More in Twi'leks Gone Wild. That'll be the day.
